Turning off Auto Field Resolve

I was out in Charlotte, NC  giving a class to ISV's on CRM 4 and one of the questions that came up was around auto resolution on lookup fields and if it's possible to disable that for a particular field.

You can turn off that feature on a field by field basis using the field properties using the form editor as you can see in the following image
